CORE Industrial Merges Four US Manufacturers, Creating Cohere Beauty

Under the ownership of private equity firm CORE Industrial, Marianna Beauty in Nebraska, Arizona Natural Resources in Arizona, HealthSpecialty Inc. in California, and Contract Filling Inc. in New Jersey have merged to become Cohere Beauty.

WHO: Cohere Beauty is the new entity created through the merger of Marianna Beauty, Arizona Natural Resources, HealthSpecialty, and Contract Filling Inc (CFI). Cohere Beauty is a full-service contract manufacturer, formulator, and distributor of customized haircare, skincare, fragrance, and cosmetic products. They provide turnkey services, including formulation, compounding, filling, quality assurance, packaging, and distribution. With locations in Arizona, California, Nebraska, and New Jersey, the company operates out of four FDA-registered cGMP compliant facilities with more than 800,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.

Omaha, Nebraska–based Marianna was founded in 1968 as a full-service custom manufacturer, formulator, and distributor of client-tailored haircare, hand and body products, styling aids and fixatives, hair color and dispensary products, and pet grooming products. 

Arizona Natural Resources, headquartered in Phoenix and founded in 1972, operates a midsize business that makes custom product formulations, specializing in skincare and haircare.

Founded in 1995 and based in Santa Fe Springs, California, HealthSpecialty is a turnkey provider of R&D, formulation, compounding, filling, and packaging solutions for the personal care industry.

Founded in 1983 and headquartered in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, CFI is a well-established contract manufacturer of fragrances and deodorants with nearly four decades of experience.

CORE Industrial Partners is a Chicago-based private equity firm with $700 million of capital commitments investing in North American lower middle-market manufacturing, industrial technology, and services businesses. 

WHY: CORE deliberately bought up companies to meet what the firm identified as an emerging need within the industry. The merged company provides versatility in manufacturing with four production facilities and 30 production lines. Cohere Beauty offers customized solutions for brands with the opportunity to scale and grow. The company can produce liquid, powder, and hot pour products in a variety of batch sizes and order quantities.
